Pagers explosions

Pagers explosions

Simultaneous explosions of pagers used by hundreds of Hezbollah members in Lebanon and Syria on Tuesday resulted in at least nine fatalities and thousands of injuries, including the death of a 10-year-old girl. Around 2,750 people were reported wounded, including Iran's ambassador to Beirut, Mojtaba Amani. Hezbollah fighters in Syria also suffered casualties, with several hospitalized in Damascus.

Hezbollah labeled this incident one of the most significant security breaches in their ongoing conflict with Israel, suggesting that the attack targeted their use of low-tech pagers to avoid assassinations. The group has blamed Israel, with Hezbollah officials promising retaliation and a "just punishment." Two of their fighters were confirmed among the dead. Israel has not commented on the attack, but the explosions came shortly after Israel announced it would expand its war efforts, including actions against Hezbollah.

The U.S. government denied any foreknowledge or involvement in the attack. Washington's response noted that it was "too early to say" how the incident might affect ongoing Gaza ceasefire discuss
